OK, so these are no exactly wall pediments, but I love the way this house looks! This company did a great job decorating this house with some foam polyurethane brackets. Really ads some curb appeal to this house. I was thinking about having this done to our house, but unfortunately there is no one in our area that does this kind of work….oh well! Enjoy the video!

A wall pediment can add classical elegance to any wall or room. Intended to be the focal point and bring the attention of your guests, a wall pediment is a cheap and effective way to highlight a picture, an archway or a doorway. From lion wall pediments to architectural masterpieces…these classic wall decorations are a sure fire way to raise the décor of your home to another level. But, with so many wall pediments to choose from, it’s should be a priority to research and know exactly what wall pediment will go with your intended wall. As much as a wall pediment can add to the allure of your home, it can also take away if you choose one that is not consistent with your overall theme. Another beautiful wall decoration that will POP on your wall is a wall cornice.
The definition of a wall pediment is a classical structure that has a triangular shape. A standard pediment would be seen more in Greek architecture and would be seen on top of two or three supporting beams, these types of decorative beams can also be known a pilaster . The pediment itself has no supporting value and is mainly just for aesthetics. The top of the Parthenon is a good example of a pediment. Pediments are usually very detailed and have several elements within the pediment such as the Tympanum which is the area inside the triangle that usually consists of Greek mythological gods or other royal figures.
The location of where to place a wall pediment will be crucial in your planning. My favorite spot is over doorways or entryways. They make some really nice door pediments that can really draw some attention. The location will also be dictated on the size of the piece. Making sure you have a wall pediment that does not over power the intended location is crucial, but you still want the piece to make a statement. To small on the wall and you might as well do nothing. The first thing you should do before shopping for a wall pediment is determine the location and then get a rough estimate on what the size the wall pediment should be. Shop for the location—not the decoration.
As for where to buy a wall pediment…online is your best bet. There is no better way simply put, although I have seen several of the major retail chains carry these types of wall decorations. IKEA being one and Ashley Furniture being the other. But, online is where you should look first. Even with the cost of shipping, the likely hood of finding a wall pediment that you like and as mentioned above—goes with your décor will be higher.
With this history goes to the effectiveness of how a wall pediment will look on your wall. A lot of detail will go into your standard wall pediment, so with that said the price of one of these fine wall decorations can vary. I have seen some wall pediments from $40 all the way to as much as $300. Of course shopping around and being diligent about your purchase will yield the best results. If you’re really on a tight budget than they even make wallpaper pediments that although might not look as good…can still give you the same effect.
